We usually use advanced or engineering solutions that reduce the noise at source because they provide a much higher noise reduction than common remedies.
There are a number of ways to reduce the noise.
Often, the noise generated by this type of equipment is dominated by a low frequency drone or hum from the chiller compressors and / or the cooling fans. The cost was thousands of pounds lower than alternative industrial noise pollution remedies commonly used by other companies, such as screens, acoustic enclosures, etc. The installation cost of this solution was very low. This remedy successfully resolved the noise problem. The solution was to rectify these faults and also to change the way the chiller operated at night. Our noise survey included detailed diagnostic tests which identified the presence of faults on the chiller and some of the pumps. The chiller and pump sound contained a distinctive “hum” and “whistle”, which were the main cause of annoyance and the main priority for noise reduction. Our noise survey showed that the solution had to provide an 11 dBA noise reduction to reduce the sound to an acceptable level and avoid further noise nuisance complaints. An urgent solution was required because the equipment was causing a considerable number of complaints from residents.
